he Ovcar-Kablar gorge is known as the SERBIAN HOLY MOUNTAIN OF ATHOS thanks to numerous monasteries situated in this area. As the permanent monuments of the Serbian architecture, spirituality and culture, surrounded by peace, the verdure of tame forests, sunny slopes, the monastieres of Vavedenje, Nikolje, Jovanje, Preobrazenje, Sretenje, Svete Trojice, Blagovestenje, Uspenije, Vaznesenje and Ilinje have existed in this gorge for centures. The original monasteries, two more sanctuaries – the church of St. Sava and the chruch – the cave Kadjenica, as a sacral memorial object of its kind, are also situated in this region.
